All of the Bargain Bin herbs are in good condition. They pass an organoleptic evaluation (taste, scent, color, feel) as a quality herb, but were harvested in past seasons or did not dry to meet our high standards. We also may have harvested a large fresh batch and are looking to clear out the storeroom. A great way to stock up on the cheap!
A note on expiration dates: Many large herb distributors and manufacturers do not supply expiration dates on their bulk herbs and therefore they can often be older than expected upon arrival. At Reverie Farms, we do use expiration dates based on age and organoleptic evaluation at time of sale or packaging. Conventional herbal wisdom states that flowers are generally best used within a year, leaves/aerial parts within 2 years, and roots within 2-3 (up to 5 years). These times may vary with the way the herbs were grown, packaged, stored and transported.
